Exporting a Presentation

After you finish creating a presentation in Lutheran Service Builder, you can export the presentation to view, format, and print it using Microsoft PowerPoint or another presentation software. Presentations can only be exported as PowerPoint file and soon a MediaShout file. Since Lutheran Service Builder has limited formatting options, exporting a presentation and editing the formatting in a presentation software may be a better experience.

Opening a PowerPoint file in a different presentation program (LibreOffice, Google Slides, etc.) will result in some formatting being lost. It is recommended that the files be opened in Microsoft PowerPoint only to prevent additional time being spent reformatting the presentation.

  1. From the calendar view, select the service you would like to export. (If the service is planned and the presentation has been created, skip to step 4.)
  2. Plan the service and click “Prepare Presentation” in the upper right corner.
  3. Make any changes you need to finish the presentation.
  4. Select the Document tab at the top of the view and then click “Export”.
  5. Select the type of file you would like to export the presentation in.

  • Has anyone else reported a problem exporting presentation to Powerpoint 2013? (Windows 10) I get an error when trying to open. Similar results on 2 other computers running same (W10, PP2013) except it opens but as a read-only file. Problem goes away if I first export to a USB thumb drive --- then it opens perfectly --- either from the USB drive or if that file is copied back to my computer. I suspect my computer has a problem with the metadata (permissions?) in the pptx file exported directly by Service Builder, but solving that issue is beyond my experience.
